Stripe Multicoloured Vase

This is a large, hand-coiled stoneware vase that I built slowly over several sessions. I really enjoy the rhythm of coiling—it’s a meditative process, and it allows for a more organic shape to emerge as I work. The form developed gradually, giving me time to respond to the curves and let the vase take on its own character.

Once the form was complete and fully dried, I fired it three times in total, each time to over 1200°C. The multiple firings let me build up layers of glaze and surface texture. I used a combination of vibrant glazes and a wax resist technique, which lets certain areas resist the glaze and remain exposed or take on a different finish. It’s a process that requires some planning but also leaves room for spontaneity—results can be unpredictable, which is part of what I love about it.

Each item is carefully packaged using recyclable material where possible! The artwork comes wrapped in bright colours and in a sturdy box with compostable packers!
