Floral Harmony Vase

This large stoneware vase was made using a hand-coiling technique, which allows for a slow, steady build-up of form. I like working this way—it’s tactile and responsive, and it gives me time to shape the piece intuitively as it grows. 

For the surface decoration, I started by drawing out a grid—just pencil lines at first—to divide the vase into small sections. Then I hand-painted each square individually using a mix of vibrant glazes. The grid brings a kind of structure to the overall design while letting each area have its own moment. The process is slow and a bit like working on a patchwork or mosaic. It lets me focus in closely and make decisions square by square, rather than all at once.

The final piece has a kind of rhythm to it, with colour and pattern shifting subtly across the surface. It’s decorative but grounded in process—very much a result of time, layering, and close attention.

Each item is carefully packaged using recyclable material where possible! The artwork comes wrapped in bright colours and in a sturdy box with compostable packers!
