Clay Development Course Dates

• 12th, 19th & 26th August
• 9th, 16th & 23rd September

A relaxed, creative evening course with Emily. Perfect if you’ve done a beginner course before or already have some clay experience and want to keep developing your ideas.

Over three weeks we’ll work in a small, supportive studio space, focusing on your own projects and ideas:

Week 1: Start developing your ideas and begin your piece with guidance and support
Week 2: Continue building and refining your work, exploring techniques as you go
Week 3: Finish your pieces and glaze your fired work using slips, underglazes, and carving techniques

Each session is relaxed and step-by-step, with lots of individual help along the way. This isn’t about rushing or making something perfect — it’s about exploring, experimenting, and developing your own style with support when you need it.

After the course, your work will be fired and ready to collect within 3-4 weeks.

All materials, firings, glazes, good chat, and plenty of tea included.

A few studio notes
The studio is outdoors, so it does vary with the weather — warm in the summer and quite cool in the winter. Please come in layers so you can stay comfortable and adjust as needed.

Clay does wash out, but I’d avoid wearing anything you’re particularly precious about. Just something relaxed that you don’t mind getting a bit messy.

Firing
One of the realities of working with clay is that pieces can occasionally crack or change in the kiln. It doesn’t happen often, but it is part of the process. Everything is handled with care, but I can’t guarantee every piece will come through perfectly.

At the moment, the studio isn’t wheelchair accessible. If you have any access needs or anything you’d like to discuss before booking, please do get in touch.

Tickets are non-refundable.

If you need to reschedule, please give at least 7 working days’ notice and I’ll do my best to move you onto another date, subject to availability.
